What are digital assets, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain?

Important note: All encrypted assets are digital assets, but not all digital assets are encrypted assets.
Legal Framework for Digital Assets in Vietnam
Currently, Vietnam has begun developing and finalizing legal frameworks related to digital assets and blockchain. Some overview points:
- Digital Technology Law 2025: Recognizes the concepts of digital assets and crypto-assets, and sets out the direction for the development of the digital economy and blockchain applications.
- Resolution 05/2025/NQ-CP: Pilot implementation of the crypto/crypto-asset market in Vietnam during the 2025–2030 period, including activities such as providing services, custody, issuance, and trading of crypto-assets.
- Government policy:
- Create a transparent and secure legal environment for digital asset and blockchain activities.
- Pilot and evaluate crypto-asset activities, thereby developing detailed regulations on licensing, risk management, AML/KYC, and investor protection.
- Encourage research and application of blockchain technology in economic and social fields.
- Upcoming guidelines, decrees, and circulars: Detailed regulations on transactions, taxation, management, and reporting of activities related to digital assets and crypto-assets are expected to be finalized.
